My Fav Cuisine

What is your favourite cuisine? Chinese? Indian? Thai? Korean? Japanese? Mexican? Italian? Mine is Vietnamese! It’s surprising that even though Malaysia is geographically close to Vietnam, we don’t actually have much Vietnamese food available here (except the few chain restaurants). Back when I was in Adelaide, there were Vietnamese foods all over! Seriously! It was just everywhere! I have been having cravings for broken rice, rice vermicelli, and the cold rolls! YuMm YuMm.. It’s super delicious!

Me loves cold rolls!

Me like Pho!
The only Vietnamese restaurant that I know of in Penang is the one at E-gate “Miss Saigon”. Have yet to try that restaurant. Will check them out one of these days.

Anyways, I have been having cravings for Vietnamese food for the past few weeks! It wasn’t till when I went to visit Cynz in KL that it finally got satiated! Vietnam Kitchen at 1U!

It was sOoOoO yummyyy!! The service was great! The ambience was awesome and the food was simply amazing!

Greedy Cynz ordered Vietnamese fried rice and chicken ball soup which was more than she could eat coz she didn’t even come close to finishing the meal!

Chicken Ball Soup

Vietnamese Chicken Rice

Lol. Skinny Chee Mun ordered broken rice with chicken.

Vietnamese-cuisine crazed Autumn went straight to attack the rice vermicelli dish!

It was sOoOo good! And surprisingly the prices of the food at Vietnam Kitchen are pretty reasonable! Our bill for dinner came up to MYR 75.00 for 3 people. For the quality of food that we’re getting I reckon it’s pretty good! Oh Vietnam Kitchen please come to Penang!! We need more Vietnamese cuisines around!

Lippy

How are your purchasing patterns like? Are you brand loyal to any particular brand? My mum is a super brand loyal consumer. Any company who has her as customer is guaranteed to have continuous purchases for the next 10 years. Maybe more! My family only uses Colgate Toothpaste for the past 20 years until I introduced an alternative brand. Mum has been going to the same hairdresser for decades!! Literally! Mum only buys Maggi’s Ketchup and Chilli sauce and instant noodles! Don’t even bother convincing her to buy any other brands coz according to Mum, nothing beats Maggi.

I, on the other hand am not brand loyal and very adventurous while making purchases. In fact, I like changing brands of my purchases even when the current brand which I am using is perfectly fine. Well, anywayz I have been trying a variety of lip gloss for the past 4 months. (One tube of lippy usually last me for only a month. Sometimes less. Don’t know if I am over using it or not). Here are the reviews of the lippy I have tried so far.

Red Earth Lip Gloss

Love the colour of the lippy. Makes my lips look glossy and its quite lasting.. However it is very very sticky (I guess that’s why it lasts so long) it’s so sticky that even when wind blows across my face. My hair sticks on my lips and I have to literally pull my hair away from my lips. There are some problems with the packaging coz the lip gloss drips out whenever the bottle is not place vertically. Messes up my make up bag coz it dripped all over my other cosmetics. Did some research regarding Red Earth’s lippy, apparently it contains lead in its lip gloss which could cause cancer. They decreased their price of lip gloss from HK$67 to HK$9.9 because they have lead. Don’t know how true it is but this piece of info is all over the internet. Better not risk getting cancer! Price is fairly reasonable at about MYR50.00.

Face Shop Lip Gloss
Love the fruitty tatse and a hint of menthol. Keeps your lips glossy and supple! It isn’t sticky at all but it doesn’t last as long as Red Earth’s. Their ranges of colours are all more natural. Generally The Face Shop’s products are pretty good at very affordable prices. Absolutely love their foundation/make up base and their list of all natural masks. Packaging of the bottle is not as classy.*kindda looks like a dildo.LOL* Price is only about MYR 30++.

Kate Lip Gloss
Don’t like everything about this lip gloss except for the packaging. The colour makes me look pale. After applying the lip gloss, my lips looks chapped. It is also hard to apply and blend the colour nicely onto my lips. Priced at about MYR50 which I think is super expensive for such a lousy product.

Elianto Lip Gloss
Never intended on trying Elianto’s lip gloss till Eunice recommended to me and it turned out really great! Loved the colour, the packaging and the price! It’s only MYR 15. They have got a good variety of colours and it is really glossy and it works really well! Looks like Elianto isn’t just a cheappy cosmetics shop which sells crap. Didn't think that something so cheap and turn out so good!

What’s your favourite lippy??

Why So Serious?

A line which was frequently used by Joker in “The Dark Knight”. I mean seriously. Why so serious? Have you ever taken a mere comment from a fellow colleague/friend/family/partner way too seriously that you felt it was a personal attack?

Maybe some comments were actually intended to criticize the persons actions/thoughts/ behavior but more often than not they are just some random perceptions of people and they do not mean to offend. Of course it sucks when people that you care about makes comments which are not only offensive but hurtful and usually when that happens, we tend to react defensively. Putting our fangs out to protect ourselves coz we are so afraid of getting hurt. Being defensive does not usually solve the problem instead it strains the relationship further.

So next time in the event that you are faced with personal attacks. Just simply smile and say
WHY SO SERIOUS?

The Ultimate Way to Ask a Girl Out

Tips on how to ask a girl out

Ok, guys! Listen up! Especially those who haven’t been dating for a while do take note! Pay 100% attention to every single detail coz this I am gonna share with you the ultimate way to ask a girl out!

Ok, what would you usually do to ask a girl out? How do you really get a girl to go out with you? Make a bet with a girl and the loser has to pay for drinks/meals? Invite her to be involved with you in an activity? Get a friend to invite her to an “outing”? Suggest checking out a blockbuster? Suggest checking out a new restaurant in town? Be her chauffeur every occasion you get? Send her flowers and get her to go out with you? Get her a drink in a club?

All the above may work very well but it’s pretty common and girls, especially the really hot ones are used to all these cheesy techniques.

I got this guy who asked me out using the following technique.

A lil intro on how I got to know this guy: Met this guy thru a dinner get together with some frens which was at his place where he made lamb stew. He got my email address and I got this email a couple of days later.

Dear Ms Autumn,

Thank you for your participation of the lamb stew survey. Amidst the reviews that we have received, yours was the most honest and well...the best review for my humble dish. Gosh, you should have seen the other reviews that came through my mail box. One customer threatened to have my limbs amputated, some promised that my cooking pots would go missing when I sleep ( a cook's nightmare) and some mediocre feedback. So in all fairness, our panel judges agreed that you should be the one to receive this "FANTASTIC" gift voucher.

Let me go into the terms and conditions bounded when you receive this voucher:
1) you may redeem the voucher for food - provided the chief chef (ME!) picks and approves of the venue
2) you may redeem the voucher for movie - provided the chief chef, and part time movie critique (ME again) picks and approves the movie
3) note the use by date, after this expiration date, no amount of begging or crying would work for extension.
4) note the serial number on the right top hand corner, do not attempt to forge or copy the voucher. Its traced and tracked by the FBI. Im watching you
5) only valid for the person named. no friends, pets, uncles, aunties, brothers....NO!
6) lastly, the voucher may also be redeem for a HUG! a HUG!

Finally, enjoy the services provided by Food Galore! Thank you for you patronage.

Please call XXX-XXXXX to redeem this voucher, and indicate your selection.

Feed me;

Chief Chef of Food Galore

May seem a lil cheesy, but it sure swept me off my feet. I was like.. WOWW.. This is really something. He even went to the extent of creating a voucher!!

So guys out there! Start polishing your skills!

A little kindness goes a long way.

Work has been a nightmare throughout the week, I have been trying to hold back my tears several occasions when people asked how I was coping with my new task/job/role. I was just given a new task by the bosses to accomplish, unfortunately I wasn’t given much training at all. When I was asked to submit my work, I was clueless on what to do. There I was sitting on my lil seat, trying to rationalise the excel spread sheets with endless columns and rows with numbers that I could hardly understand. Everyone around me was fully focused on their flat screen LCD monitors. I on the other hand do not understand a single thing that was shown on my screen. I have never felt that dumb and underachieved in my entire life. It was just depressing. Feeling really helpless I tried to ask for help. There were several friendly co-workers who tried lending a helping hand and of course there were also those who were so immersed in their job that they could hardly tilt their heads let alone provide any assistance.

It was difficult just to open up my eyes and get up from bed the following day. I wished I could just call in sick and not go to work but that will be irresponsible of me. I dragged my limp body and made it to work on time as usual. I sat on my chair, dreading the day. When I felt as if the sky was gonna fall on me, a colleague walked towards me, I didn’t even notice her existence when she approached me and she gave me a handmade flower and whispered “ Happy 100th Day at the Office”. I was speechless! It was just a flower, it wasn’t anything fancy and but it was the thought and counts. Suddenly being at work made sense again and it really made my day! Indeed it made my day a lil more bearable.

A lil kindness does go a long way. So try being a lil nicer you have no idea what the other person is going thru and it does impact on the other person significantly. You never know. Now the flower is on my table and i made sure i left it on a place where i could see it everyday to remind me that things are not always as it seems and perhaps if we are patient enough, we'll get to the good part soon enough.

Lets spread kindness all over.

The Hell Gates are Opened!!

It’s the time of the year where the Chinese community celebrates the Hungry Ghost Festival. The Hungry Ghost Festival is taken very seriously by the Chinese. On the Chinese or Lunar 7th month, the Hungry Ghost Festival is one where literally all hell breaks lose as the gates of hell will open to let out the 'hungry ghosts' to earth for the whole month! The souls of the dead ignored by relatives may do acts of mischief, so steps must be taken to appease the spirits before they go on a rampage. Hell money, paper offerings and joss sticks are burnt to see to their material needs; food is offered so that the souls do not go hungry and thus less likely to wreck havoc.

Food offerings to the deceased.

Hell notes are burned for the wandering souls

24 hours non stop entertainment is also available during the hungry ghost festival. Chinese Opera Troupe from China. *This is like Astro on demand for the dead*

Please note that the opera shows are for the ‘hungry ghosts’. So when there are empty seats in front of the stage, try not sitting on them, coz who knows you might accidentally sit on them’.

Food offerings on an alter of a Chinese temple. A suckling pig is sacrificed for the Gods.

Devotee praying for peace and prosperity during the hungry ghost month.

Autumn having a good time looking around the colorful dragon joss sticks.

Some claim that they experience paranormal events during these seasons. After taking the pic above I was sort of scared how the pic might turn out. Was afraid that ghostly images will appear on the photo, luckily it turned out ok! Haha.. PheWw~~

According to a friend, the basement cark park of a hotel along Upper Penang Road is haunted. According to her, before the building was completed, there was a guard who heard noises from the basement area. When the guard went to check out where the noise was from, he saw dead people dancing in the basement with very loud music!! Don’t know how true it is but it sure sounds creepy. So just take extra precautions when you’re heading to the clubs on UPR during this ghostly month.

Have you experienced any eerie encounters?

Life on the not-so-fab Lane

As much as I would like to live life in the fab lane like Kimora Lee Simmons, doing absolutely nothing except posing around, trying to look good everyday and complaining about being fat….

KLS looking hot and fabulous!

KLS earning big bucks just by sitting around.

or the life of the brilliant billionaire entrepreneur /heiress Aerin Lauder- daughter of Ronald and granddaughter of Estée Lauder leading the high profile and powerful life in the beauty industry.

Classy looking Aerin leading the life of an heiress

Aerin Lauder looking gorgeous just by sniffing thru her products

I on the other hand lead a simple life.

Paris and ex bff Nicole earning crazy amount of publicity and greens just by being bimbos.

Nope! not that “simple life”. It’s the real world ordinary simple life.

Autumn in deep concentration trying to tele the figures of the Overseas Purchase Journal

working from 8.10am to 5.31pm from Mondays to Fridays.

Food for the Thought

Food for the thought
A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers , wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more , but have less , we buy more , but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families , more conveniences , but less time. We have more degrees but less sense , more knowledge , but less judgment , more experts , yet more problems , more medicine , but less wellness.

We drink too much , smoke too much , spend too recklessly , laugh too little , drive too fast , get too angry , stay up too late , get up too tired , read too little , watch TV too much , and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions , but reduced our values. We talk too much , love too seldom , and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living , but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back , but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things , but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air , but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom , but not our prejudice. We write more , but learn less. We plan more , but accomplish less. We've learned to rush , but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more informa tion , to produce more copies than ever , but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion , big men and small character , steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce , fancier houses , but broken homes. These are days of quick trips , disposable diapers , throwaway morality , one night stands , overweight bodies , and pills that do everything from cheer , to quiet , to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you , and a time when you can choose either to share this insight , or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones , because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember , say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe , because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember , to give a warm hug to the one next to you , because t hat is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember , to say , 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones , but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love , give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

This explains why Autumn thinks there’s gotta be more to life than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy her.

In this era where we think have had it all, we actually have nothing at all. Perhaps its time to make a difference....

Who is Kim Kardashian?

‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ has been airing on channel E! for a while now and many of us haven’t got a clue on how or why they got famous. I have never heard of Kim Kardashian or any of the Kardashian siblings before the reality show was aired on channel E! I mean what is so special about Kim Kardashian? Why don’t they air a reality show on “Keeping Up with Autumn” or something like that instead? I bet my life can be just as crazy and dramatic as theirs if I had that much publicity. Some of the episodes are junk and they seem clueless in front of the camera. And I personally think that the whole show is fake and stupid!

Kim Kardashian is just a regular spoilt brat who grew up in Los Angeles, California and who happens to be the daughter of attorney Robert Kardashian (best known for being O.J Simpson's lawyer during his murder trial) and Kriss Jenner. Kim was surrounded by family, fame and fortune. After her parents divorced in 1991, her mother married 1976 Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner. Being the daughter of Robert Kardashian wasn’t the main reason on how she got famous. Her fame was mostly due to being an ex bff of Paris Hitlon (another spoilt brat), being a model for playboy magazine and starring in a home made sex tape with ex boyfriend Ray-J (singer Brandy Norwood’s brother). On my opinion the sex tape was just a desperate attempt to gain publicity - just like how Paris Hilton got famous.

Anywayz, Keeping Up with the Kardashians features Kim, her parents and her other 6 siblings (Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Robert Kardashian jr. Kendell Jenner- half sister and Kylie Jenner-half sister) living their crazy and nonsensical day to day life in the upper class suburb of Calabasas in California. The reality series reinstate the fact of how shallow celebrities are. It is so dumb, its not even funny.

Kim's mother (Kris Jenner) doesn't seem to have any morals and is Kim's manager and is fairly inept at handling her daughter's non-career. Kris is often seen behaving like a kid. I mean come on!! Kris is a mother of 6 children! What sort of message is she trying to send across with such behavior?

Here’s a sneak peak on what goes on in ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’

Kim is currently in the midst of filming ‘Disaster Movie’ which is a movie with lotsa parodies like how ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Epic Movie’ is. The movie is pretty much self explanatory as described by the title.

No doubt, Kim is one hot looking girl but once you get past Kim's prominently displayed assets, there's not much of a show. I think we have had enough of lame reality series starred by bimbos who are trying to be actresses Its time to get back to the good old series such as Full House, Friends and How I Met Your Mother with real content.

Sex and the City

Sex and the City has gotta be one of the “bestest” movie I have watched this year! You don’t have to be an avid follower of the series and you would still be able to follow the story line. I can relate to the movie at so many different levels. Every character seems to portray the very different inner thoughts of mine.

Sex and the city isn’t just a chick flick. Set in NYC it tells the story of four besties! Despite being a sitcom, the movie tackles socially-relevant issues such as STD, safe sex, multiple partners and promiscuity. The girls often discuss their sexual desires and fantasies, and their travails in life and love. The show often depicts frank discussions about romance and sexuality, particularly in the context of being a single woman in her mid-thirties. Although the characters are in their mid thirties, they don’t actually behave their age, which explains why I can relate to it.

Besides having a really great story line, the movie had really splurged on the wardrobe. All the clothes, bags, shoes, accessories were just AMAZINGGG. Extremely high fashion! If only I had access to the wardrobe for a day, I would be the happiest living creature on earth!!

The foursome girls

Friendship brings us together….

World premiere in London

Throughout the movie, which run for 2 hours and 24 minutes I ‘tear with poised and composure’ at least 4 to 5 times! LOL Felt a lil bit embarrassed to be crying in the cinema watching a movie that is meant to be a sitcom. *shame!shame!* I just felt such emotional connection with the girls! The story line is just so so relevant to me. I am an absolute sucker for sappy romantic sitcoms. And to me, Sex and the City tops the movie review list!

A definite must watch for those who have close friends. Be it girls or guys - we share one common language - friendship. This movie portrays the meaning of being friends - walking thru thick and thin, love and heartbreaks and having very very happening fashion sense!

Oh, when will I meet my very own Mr.Big?

Ratings: A+++
Ps: You absolutely gotta catch this movie!
Will start downloading the series.. ;)
They kindda remind me of JMEGS!
